Krishi mela at four different places in Darjeeling Hills

After the success of the Tea and Tourism festival in the Hills, the Gorkhaland Territorial Administration (GTA) now will be organizing Krishi mela at four different places in the Hills.The GTA agriculture department in charge Kalyan Dewan said that considering the development of the farmers of the Hills the mela is being organized.

A meeting headed by the Dewan was held today where they discussed about the features of the melas which also had the presence of the sabhasads, the departmental officials and others.The mela will be organized in the second week of January. It is from 14-19 at Mungpoo and Jogidhar, from 12-16 at Relly, 13-17 at Dalgoan, 12-27 at Jamuney said Dewan.The mela is being organized on the advice of the GTA chief Bimal Gurung who has been always working for the benefit of the Darjeeling Hills farmers as they lie in the Non Ceral Zone he added. The mela will have agricultural displays, free distribution of the animals, krishi loans, free check-ups for animals, rural sports, painting competitions, traditional stalls, distribution of the saplings, sensitization to the farmers etc. The mela will also have host of attraction which include the local and the guest artists. The mela will also have the stalls of the line department, floriculture and ARD department. Dewan has also appealed the concerned department to contribute optimum to make the event successful.
